Answering Your Questions

What's it like on retreat?

Retreats are held over several days at retreat houses nestled in peaceful, reflective locations. Together a community is built on unconditional love and trust. Since 1989, each retreat consists of certain components vital to the transformation process. Story, table fellowship, music, dance, art, humor, and shared experience are time-honored parts of the retreat program. Alone, and as a group, participants seek personal renewal, inspiration, guidance, and empowerment through a more complete approach to living with HIV/AIDS.

Who plans and leads the retreat?

Our teams consist of healthcare professionals, musicians, artists, social workers, story tellers, and others who volunteer their time and talents to creating a retreat. The most vital members of our team are those individuals who attend a retreat and return to serve others as part of the team. These men and women insure that Transformation Retreats stays true to its mission.

What does it cost?

There is no cost to the participant. The retreat is a gift from the community made possible through generous donations. If it is possible for you to make a contribution, it is greatly appreciated. One scholarship is offered per person each year. However, women may attend both the Women's Day and a 4-day retreat.

Which retreat is right for you?

Newcomer's Retreat — Men and women who have never attended a four-day Transformation Retreat are welcome to register.

Returning Retreat — Open to men and women who have previously attended one four-day Newcomer's retreats. Preference is given to those who have never attended the Returning Retreat and to individuals coming from under-served areas.

Retreat Day for Women — Designed for not only women living with HIV/AIDS but also women affected by HIV/AIDS among family and friends. You do not have to attend with a person living with HIV/AIDS. Family and friends who have lost a loved one to HIV/AIDS are also welcome.
